1966 W113 230SL Pagoda
THE EVERYDAY DRIVER
This EU Spec 230 SL Pagoda began its journey in Germany before heading to Canada, where it was purchased by the current owner in its original condition. Recognizing its classic appeal, the owner brought the car back to Austria and performed a comprehensive technical overhaul to maintain its excellent running state. Powered by a robust 280SL engine block, this Pagoda perfectly balances the vintage charm of the 230 SL with modern reliability, making it an ideal everyday driver. With its combination of elegance, power, and dependable performance, it offers an exceptional driving experience. However, this car does not represent the TURAH standard and is not yet restored.
Mercedes-Benz Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut demonstrated the capabilities of the 230 SL on the tight three-quarter mile Annemasse Vétraz-Monthoux race track in 1963, where he put up a best lap time of 47.5 seconds vs. 47.3 seconds by Grand Prix driver Mike Parkes on his 3-liter V12 Ferrari 250 GT
